Area Rug Cleaning in Oroville, CA

A rug cleaned on your floor is cleaned on one side. In our plant we can wash both.

Preserve the beauty of your area rugs with delicate, effective cleaning that restores their color. We offer convenient pick-up and delivery for all types of area rugs to fit your schedule, and you are welcome to drop one off at the shop instead.

The reason we take rugs away rather than clean them where they lie is simple. A rug on a floor can only be cleaned from the top, and most of the soil in a rug is dry particulate sitting in the base of the pile, on the far side of the fiber from your vacuum. In the plant the rug is dusted first to shake that out, then washed front and back under controlled conditions, then dried flat and groomed.

Fine rugs are a different discipline

Wool, silk, Persian and Turkish rugs are hand-knotted from natural fiber with dyes that are not always color-fast, and they are the pieces most likely to be damaged by a general-purpose carpet clean. Our rug spa handles these with controlled washing, individual stain treatment and specialty care, and dye stability is tested before anything wet touches the rug.

One customer with oriental rugs over cherry hardwood and two greyhounds has now had us collect, clean and return them twice. Her rugs came back clean, bright and smelling fresh — which, with two dogs, is the actual test.

What is included

Pick-up and delivery, or drop-off at the shop if you prefer. Every size and every fiber. The front and the back of the rug. Fringe cleaning where the rug has one. And optional fiber protectant and moth repellant, which is worth having on wool in particular — moth damage in a stored wool rug is far more expensive to fix than to prevent.

Rugs that have been through a water loss are handled differently again, and they are urgent: a wet wool rug left rolled up will begin to rot and can transfer dye into whatever it is lying on. If a rug has been soaked, call before you move it.

FAQ

Area Rug Cleaning questions

Do you collect the rug, or do I bring it in?

Either. We offer pick-up and delivery across Butte County at no extra charge, and drop-off at the shop if that suits you better. Most people find collection easier for anything large enough to need two people to lift.

How long does a rug take?

Usually several days to a week. A rug is dusted, washed front and back, rinsed, dried flat and groomed, and none of those steps can be rushed without showing in the result. We will give you a date when we collect it.

Can you clean silk and antique rugs?

Yes — those are exactly what the rug spa is for. Fiber and dye stability are tested first, and silk and hand-knotted antique pieces are washed with a gentler chemistry and lower agitation than a machine-made wool rug would take.

What is fiber protectant, and is it worth it?

It is a treatment applied after cleaning that gives spills time to be blotted up before they soak into the fiber. On a rug that lives in a dining room or a hallway it pays for itself. On wool, we would also recommend the moth repellant.
