Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we get asked most — and if yours is not here, call and ask.

Here we have collected answers to the most common questions about our services, from carpet cleaning and upholstery care through to hardwood floor refinishing and mold remediation. We are committed to keeping your property clean, safe and well maintained, and to giving you the information you need to make the right call for your space.

If you do not find the answer you are looking for, reach out for a consultation — we are always here to help with advice specific to your floors.

What is your service area?

Our main service area is Butte County, California — Oroville, Palermo, Chico, Durham, Paradise, Biggs and Gridley. We also cover Marysville, which is just over the county line in Yuba County. If you are near one of those and not sure whether we reach you, call and ask; we usually do.

What cleaning and restoration services do you offer?

Carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, area rug cleaning at our plant, tile and grout cleaning and sealing, hardwood floor refinishing, carpet repairs and stretching, VCT strip and wax, 24/7 emergency water extraction and water damage restoration, and mold remediation. We work in homes and in commercial buildings, and we run ongoing maintenance programs for property managers.

What should I expect with the water extraction service?

We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency water extraction. You get a rapid response, a no-obligation estimate, and a team that can bill your insurance directly. Flooding is caused in many different ways — pipes leaking, refrigerator lines breaking, a washing machine overflowing, a roof leaking, or rising outdoor water. Whatever you are facing, it is imperative to act fast and call as soon as possible.

What should I expect with the area rug cleaning service?

We offer pick-up and delivery for all types of area rugs, and you are welcome to drop one off instead. Cleaning a rug in our shop rather than on your floor gives a deeper, more controlled clean — we wash the front and the back, we handle every size and fiber, and we can add fiber protectant and moth repellant to keep it looking its best for longer.

Are you certified, and what does the guarantee actually cover?

We are certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) as Master Textile Cleaners, which is the highest certification available for carpet and textile cleaning. Every job carries a 30-day guarantee: if we fail to deliver the results we discussed, you get a 100% cash refund, no questions asked.

Do you work with insurance?

Yes. We work with all insurance providers and can bill your insurer directly for water damage work. We document the loss properly — moisture readings, thermal images and daily drying logs — which is the part that decides how a claim goes.

How often should I have my wood floors refinished?

Wood floors need refinishing every 3-5 years, but high-traffic areas or heavy use may require more frequent care to maintain their condition.

What’s involved in the screening and recoating process?

The screening process removes minor scratches and imperfections, followed by a fresh layer of polyurethane to restore shine and protection.

Will refinishing remove deep scratches?

While minor scuffs and surface damage are removed, deep scratches may need special treatment or full sanding to achieve a smooth finish.

How long does the refinishing process take?

Most refinishing projects are completed in a day or two, depending on floor size and drying time for the polyurethane coating.

Is refinishing safe for all types of wood floors?

Yes, most hardwood floors are suitable for refinishing. Our team evaluates the wood type and condition to ensure optimal results.

My grout is supposed to be white, but now it’s gray. Can you fix this?

Absolutely — that is exactly what our system is designed to do. We strip the soil and the old sealer out of the grout line rather than scrubbing the surface, then re-seal so it does not go straight back in.

I’ve got wax on my tile and grout. Is there anything you can do?

Yes. The wax may need to be stripped before the cleaning process. There may be an extra charge for this process — call us for details.

Can you change the color of any grout?

Usually, yes. There are some types of grout that have been altered with a poor quality of grout colorant that may not be able to be re-dyed, such as grout that has been painted. Short of that, most grout can be recolored with no problems.
