Carpet Repairs & Stretching in Oroville, CA

Buckled carpet is not worn out. It is loose, and loose carpet wears out fast.

Wall-to-wall carpet laid flat and taut across a bedroom after stretching

Bring life back to your carpet with expert repair. From stretching that takes out wrinkles and buckling to patching pet damage, we restore both the look and the durability of the carpet, and the finish blends into what is already there.

Ripples matter more than they look. A wrinkle is a fold that gets walked on, and the fiber along the crest of it wears through in months rather than years — so a floor that is only loose today becomes a floor that needs replacing if it is left. It is also the most common trip hazard in a house, particularly on a landing or at a doorway.

Power stretching, not knee-kicking

Carpet buckles because it was not stretched tight enough when it was laid, or because heat and humidity have relaxed it over the years — and Oroville summers relax a lot of carpet. Fixing it means pulling the carpet properly taut with a power stretcher and re-seating it on the tack strip, then trimming the surplus.

A knee-kicker alone will flatten a ripple for a season and then it comes back, because the tension was never actually restored. That is why the same rooms get "fixed" repeatedly by whoever was cheapest.

Patching pet damage, burns and torn seams

Where a piece of carpet is gone rather than loose — a dog has been at a doorway, something has burned it, a seam has opened — the section is cut out and a patch is bonded in. The result depends almost entirely on the donor piece: a cut-off from a closet or under a piece of furniture matches perfectly, because it has aged with the rest of the room.

If you have a remnant from the original installation, keep it. If you do not, we will look for somewhere in the house we can borrow from and replace with something that will never be seen.

Repair and clean together

Repairs are best done before a cleaning, not after. Stretching moves the carpet and can lift soil out of a fold that had been hidden, and a patch bonds better into a clean pile. One customer had a buckling carpet stretched and then cleaned, and described the result as looking brand new — that order is why.

If you are considering replacing a carpet that is loose or damaged in one spot, it is worth getting an estimate first. Stretching and cleaning a floor costs a fraction of replacing it, and on carpet that is otherwise sound it is very often the whole answer.

FAQ

Carpet Repairs questions

My carpet has ripples. Does it need replacing?

Almost never. Ripples mean the carpet is loose, not worn out — it is power-stretched taut again and re-seated on the tack strip. It is worth doing sooner rather than later, because the fiber along the crest of a wrinkle wears through where it gets walked on.

Will a patch be visible?

Not if there is a good donor piece. A remnant from the original installation, or a cut taken from a closet or from under a permanent piece of furniture, has aged with the room and disappears. A piece of new carpet in an old floor is the one that shows.

Should I have the carpet repaired or cleaned first?

Repaired first. Stretching moves the carpet and exposes soil that was folded out of sight, and a patch bonds better into clean pile. We regularly do both in the same visit.
